Booker been sharing the practices of Mindfulness and yoga to incarcerated and system-involved youth since 2007, currently serving as the Director of Trainings for Lineage Project. Co-founding the Yoga Service Council in 2010, Booker has continued to find ways to support the sustainability of those on the front lines through co-creating the Meditation Working Group of Occupy Wall Street, monthly Urban Sangha Project workshops, retreats for refuge and resiliency for activists, and facilitating national diversity trainings for yoga teachers created by Third Root’s Education Exchange.
She offers lectures and workshops to law students and undergraduates, utilizing social justice principles along with embodied wisdom practices to bolster their efforts in creating a just world. Booker was invited to offer Mindful yoga and meditation at the 2012 Democratic National Convention through the Yoga Votes campaign convened by Off the Mat, Into the World, and is a regular presenter at Mindfulness and academic conferences around the country. She is a graduate and current faculty of the Mindful Yoga and Meditation training through Spirit Rock, and is also on faculty of the Engaged Mindfulness Institute’s Facilitator training and Off the Mat’s Social Justice and Community Building Training. She will graduate from Spirit Rock’s Community Dharma Leader’s Program in 2017.
