Join Tessa and Hala for a dialogue exploring how injustice is a form of collective trauma that impacts us all. Inequality affects everyone, and if you're interested in healing yourself and being a part of healing others, understanding the roots and effects of systemic oppression and institutionalized racism must be a part of your inquiry. During these sessions we will look at how our individual identity is shaped by both our own personal histories and traumas as well as by our collective history as a diverse nation riddled by injustice. These sessions will explore how we can understand the trauma that results from injustice in our personal lives or the lives of those with whom we wish to work on issues of justice and will conclude with some tangible practices/action steps that will address both.
Session 1 - Review of the realities of injustice today, on personal, interpersonal, institutional, and systemic levels; self- and group-reflection activities
Session 2 - Understanding how trauma develops from the intersectionality of oppression; gaining tools for addressing the trauma on injustice personally and collectively
