Art Creation Foundation for Children (ACFFC)

Mission: Art Creation Foundation For Children (ACFFC) is a non-profit arts organization created for education and personal growth of children in need in Jacmel, Haiti. ACFFC's mission is to teach street children art so that they may have a future.

Children achieve self-sufficiency via the arts and education as well as internalize a sense of social responsibility, community and connectedness in partnership with ACFFC staff and supporters. Children are between 6 and 11 when enroll; they had never attended school nor did they eat on a regular basis.

Many children are orphaned and are destined to a life on the streets. Knowing that these children now have an opportunity for a better life, an education, consistent supply of food and medical care is an overwhelming relief to the children. All ACFFC staff are Haitian.

Association of the Peasants of Fondwa (APF)

Mission: The Association of Peasants Fondwa (APF) is a grassroots organization that has worked hand in hand with the peasants of Fondwa since 1988. APF envisions a new rural Haiti, one which is populated with sustainable and holistic communities that actively promote the civil and human rights of the poor.

Project: Building a Community Center
After the devastating earthquake, all of APF’s projects and infrastructure was completely destroyed. This Community Center will become the hub of all activities for APF. It will house the following, all of which are income-generating activities for the organizations:

-Internet Café
-Radio Station (Radyo Zetwal)
-Credit Union
-Sewing business
-Market area with coffee shop, bakery, small commodities store, and boutique
-Family Health Center
-Guestrooms for donors, international visitors, and volunteers
-Tree Nursery with Mango and Papaya on grounds
-Conference rooms for community to rent out
-Cold Storage for processing fruit on grounds (container)
-Additional office space to rent out

This project will allow APF to get back on its feet and begin their development programs in the community once again. It will create jobs in the community, teach valuable vocational skills, serve as a base for all APF supporters to visit, and provide an income to support the organization.

Jacmel Children's Center

Mission:  The Jacmel Children's Center is a collaborative effort – between community leaders of Jacmel, a Haitain construction school for teenagers, and US caring citizens – to construct an eco-efficient center for children in Jacmel Haiti. A local community leader, Bonite Affriany, serves food and educates local children and over 275 others everyday. She owns a large piece of property adjacent to her existing lunch/classroom facility where she would like to develop a community center for the children: a place for them to sleep, eat, attend classes, pray and be loved. Our hope is that the center will become a hub in the Jacmel community for giving children the opportunity for a brighter future, providing education, art, refuge, faith and love.

Project: Construct an eco-efficient center for children
The center will provide food gardens, housing, class room facilities, recreational areas and dining facilities. The Center is designed with passive energy considerations as well as options for active energy upgrades. The structure will consist of bedrooms, classroom/dining room, and food gardens. The structure, built in partnership with APTECH, a Haitian construction school for teenagers and young adults, will be designed using active and passive energy techniques including heat evacuation, operable altitude windows, fan systems with roof system with the option upgrade for pv panels or inlaid SSR roof depending on total funds raised.

J/P HRO Haitian Relief Organization

Mission: JPHRO's mission is to save lives and bring sustainable programs to the Haitian people quickly and effectively. Founded immediately after the January 12th earthquake by Sean Penn, J/P HRO is effectively managing five vital programs in areas related to Camp Management, Medical, Rubble Removal Facilitating Community Regeneration, Education, and Emergency Response Operations.

Project: Rubble Removal

Rubble clearance allows the rebuilding of communities, the returning of families to neighborhoods, and increased safety for all. It is anticipated that reopening of schools and businesses will soon follow as communities are repopulated. The rubble clearing has encouraged Haitians to participate in spontaneous clearing efforts themselves. Every day we see evidence of people clearing rubble from their home sites by hand, almost doubling the effectiveness of our work. The emotional, physical and spiritual impact of rubble removal cannot be underestimated.

In 2010, J/P HRO removed 55,000 cubic meters of rubble and debris from the streets, equaling an average of 25-30 trucks per day from the Delmas 32 area in Port au Prince. J/P has been recognized as an innovative leader in rubble removal and manual demolition, serving as a model for other international organizations working to achieve the same goal.

More information on our partners and projects will be posted as it becomes available.
